CHAMPIONS ALWAYS FIND A WAY

As we are moving through our summer, the question I ask is what is one pinning combination or nearfall maneuver could you drill from now until the season that would be game changer during the season?

Ask yourself, is consistently working your bar, half nelson, nearside cradle or a cross face cradle series would help you win more match or reach your goals? Will perfecting you nearside, Easton or bar tilt make you very dangerous?

The response I usually get, is coach I do not have a wrestling mat at home to do this. My response is why do you need a mat. This is not wrestling live this is perfecting game changing maneuvers that will help you gain advantage. You can drill in the yard, or on a rug. Everybody wants to wrestle live but being the best REQUIRES purposeful drilling on one or two things consistently that will make you the best.

Another question is coach I do not have a partner? My response is find a partner! Use your sibling, your parents, your friend or call one of your teammates and you both can become better. By consistently working on those things that can make a difference in your wrestling. Does it have to be every day? No, but purposeful planning and drilling. Make it time 2 or 3 days a week for 15 minutes to do purposeful drilling.
That is 45 minutes a week that can be a game changer. FOCUS JUST FOR THOSE 15 MINUTES ON DOING THAT DRILL NOT UNTIL YOU GET IT RIGHT, BUT UNTIL YOU DO NOT GET IT WRONG

Suggestion to working these pinning combination series. Do them in sequences.
Example:
  • Bar with a 1 on 1 to Bar cut back to a reinforce bar tilt
  • Half with a 1 on 1 running it 2 o’clock adding resetting it or to a half and a nearside cradle to half with a turk (lifting the near leg and stepping in and scooping it with your leg then elevating it). You might want to add a bar and half combo
  • Nearside Cradle to running it 2 or 10 o’clock, Pop your far hip, doing a fallback cradle (rowing it backwards) or split the leg cradle (Stepping between the leg and running the top leg to your opponent’s head.
  • Traditional Cross face Cradle to a roll through cradle to running the wheel or cross face and a turk

Practicing your tilts by learning do them from both sides.

You image if you work on these maneuvers consistently how much it will raise your wrestling level. It’s not about doing a lot of moves good, it is about doing a specific move, GREAT! Especially nearfalls!!!
